RC Planes were made to be flown!
I just found this story on the Rio Rancho Observer website about an RC plane club who had donated a radio controlled model plane to the children’s department of a library.
Now this seems like a nice thing to do, the kids get a radio controlled planed, the RC club get mentioned in the press and on websites, everyone’s happy… except for the fact about what they plan to do with the plane.
After members of the Radio Control Club flew several radio-operated “model” planes outside the children’s department of Loma Colorado Main Library, it was decided it was only fitting to donate one of the planes to the library. A radio controlled glider built by Don McClelland, who donated it to club, will hang from the ceiling where children can dream of flying a plane — or a real one — one day.
‘Hanging from the ceiling’??? It’s a radio controlled plane, not a damn airfix model. It needs to be flown, it wants to be flown. Strapping it to the ceiling is both unfair on the plane itself and on the kids. They’ll have this really cool radio controlled plane almost within touching distance, and they won’t be able to use it.
