Radio controlled car club faces closure
You’d expect maybe to have some problems with the council due to noise abatement laws if you were playing loud music, having all night parties or being rowdy… but playing with some radio controlled cars?
As mad as it seems, an Australian RC club (The Melbourne Radio Control Car Racers) is being threatened with closure by the council because of complaints over the noise coming from the cars themselves. They’ve existed on the site for the last 10 years and have their own purpose built race track.
The club even co-operates with the nearby tennis club, making sure that they’re not holding any races when the club is having a tennis tournament. This isn’t good enough for residents however, as the toys are too loud.

The club have even offered to erect a fence to help keep the noise levels down, but the council have refused to let them do this.
Andy Bishop, the president of the RC car club said:
We’ve previously worked with the tennis club to make sure we’re not racing when they’re playing pennant, and we’ve taken steps to reduce the amount of noise coming from the cars with exhausts and the like.
MyRCModels.com hopes a solution can be found for the club, as its 60 members would have to look elsewhere to continue their sport.
