Panic Attack on Robot Wars
For RC enthusiasts the TV show Robot Wars made for great viewing, where anyone with a love of radio controlled gadgetry could build their own robot and do battle with each other in the robot arena. The stars of the show were the robots themselves, the bearded nerds who built them and the bearded nerds children who often controlled them.
Series 2 winner was Cwmbran’s own Panic Attack, a low riding yellow lump that could flip other robots, no matter how heavy they seemed to be. Panic Attack never won Robot Wars after series 2 however as the trend in robots geared more towards the self righting robots, so flipping them over onto their roof served little purpose.
Panic Attack was immortalised though when the BBC released a series of Micro Machines for the robots containing some of the more popular competitors.
I always supported Panic Attack as he was my local robot, though Chaos 2 was the best of all time!
