Build your own Dalek
When I went to one of the Collectormania events at Milton Keynes I was pleased (and slightly scared) to see hordes of Daleks roaming the shopping centre, posing for photographs, chasing children and generally threatening to exterminate as many people as possible.
I didn’t actually see any exterminating first hand, so they may have been idle threats.
Whatever the basis to their being there, the Daleks were very impressive. As an impulsive person I naturally did some research as to the cost of buying my own Dalek… forget it. It’s expensive. I could however get in touch with the guys at the Dalek Builders Club and download plans to construct my own Dalek.
The site features advice and instructions on constructing your Dalek, photos of Daleks already built and even videos of functioning Daleks.
The great detail I liked about these things is that they’ve installed the voice changers into the Daleks to give their voices that beautiful, deathly rasp that the Daleks are famous for, plus the lights flash when they speak.
Terrifying, at least to a 4 year old, which I happened to have with me at the time.
